Bahman Guyuron is an Iranian Kiehn-DesPrez Professor of Plastic Surgery[1] and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons (2013).[2]
Guyuron was born in Tabriz, Iran.[3] He obtained MD degree from Tehran University Medical School in 1971, and in 1978 completed general and plastic surgery residencies at Boston University and at Cleveland Clinic respectively. He did fellowship in craniofacial surgery at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto[4] and then moved to Lyndhurst, Ohio[5] where he still resides. Upon arrival to a new place, he found a job at Case Western Reserve University and served there as Professor Emeritus of plastic surgery[4] and chairman of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine[6] and University Hospitals of Cleveland, from which he retired in 2013.[3]
Dr. Guyuron has published more than 200 medical articles in peer-reviewed journals, three textbooks and more than 40 book chapters on plastic surgery. He served as reviewer and senior editor of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Aesthetic Surgery Journal.[4]
In 2016, Guyuron was appointed as editor-in-chief of an official journal, published by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.[4]
He serves as a member on a Medical Advisory Board of Children's Craniofacial Association[7] is a member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery[8] and a Founding Member of the Rhinoplasty Society.[9]
In 2002 he was President of the American Society for Maxillofacial Surgeons[10] and two years later he was appointed to the advisory board council of the American College of Surgeons, after serving first as its fellow.[11]
Bahman Guyuron is married to a Jewish woman, Lora Shapiro[3] and have a son Greg.[15]
